Ukrainian Arrivals Making Up 11% Of Ennistymon Population

Ukrainian arrivals make up more than 10% of the population of the Ennistymon local electoral area.

The latest data from the Central Statistics Office reveals that over 2,000 PPSNs have been issued to Ukrainians residing in the region in North Clare.

The CSO’s most recently published “Arrivals from Ukraine from Ireland” report provides an analysis of Ukrainians who have come to this country and are availing of support from the Department of Social Protection.

The report states that as of the 8th of October, there are 5,006 Ukrainian arrivals in Clare, giving it the sixth highest amount in the country.

The local electoral area of Ennistymon has a higher concentration of Ukrainian arrivals than any other LEA nationwide, with 2,006 based there, making up over 11% of the region’s total population.

Ennis has the next highest amount of Ukrainians in Clare, with 1,062 based there, closely followed by Shannon which has 1,034.

544 Ukrainian people are living in Kilrush while 360 have made Killaloe their home.

The data also notes that there are 639 hosts in receipt of the Accommodation Recognition Payment and this has risen by 476, or 26% since June.

In addition, 583 Ukrainian children are attending primary school here while 340 are in secondary-level education.

The number of Ukrainians in Clare has risen by 380 since June while on a national level, 96,338 PPSNs have been issued so far.
