Uisce Éireann is looking to retain an existing meteorological mast in East Clare for four more years.
The 10-metre lattice tower is located in the townland of Meelick in Whitegate and is mounted on a triangular block supported by three cable stays.

The water utility first secured planning permission for the structure, which serves the purpose of “data gathering”, in August of 2017, and managed to renew the permission in January of 2021.
Now, it’s seeking a four-year temporary permission for the continued operation of the mast, with submission due by February 1st of next year before the local authority makes its decision on or before February 22nd.
