The old Emergency Department at University Hospital Limerick will come back on stream by the end of the month.
A 17-bed short-stay unit for medical patients, which will be located in the refurbished old ED, will open in September.

It’s hoped the unit will help ease the shortage in capacity at Dooradoyle, a key issue in overcrowding.
The hospital was the busiest in Ireland last month, with INMO figures showing 835 people on trolleys there, up from 224 in 2013
