Management at University Hospital Limerick are meeting with the nursing unions today to deal with concerns raised about the opening of the new emergency department.

The INMO this week called for the opening to be deferred, citing concerns over staffing, plans to deal with trolley numbers and what the union believed was an insufficient number of practice runs within the facility.

The UL Hospitals Group rejected the claims, saying 90 new staff members have been hired and full training has been provided.
