The region’s main hospital is set for a staffing boost ahead of what the Health Minister expects to be a ‘difficult’ winter in the Midwest.
30 new nurses are to be funded for University Hospital Limerick’s emergency department following a commitment made by Stephen Donnelly during his visit to Dooradoyle.
However, he did admit that the Midwest needs to brace itself for a ‘difficult’ winter as medium and long term supports take time to come on stream.
Speaking with Clare FM’s Josh Prenderville, CEO of the UL Hospitals Group, Professor Colette Cowan, says an opening of a specific ED facility for over-75s next week will also help ease pressure.
