UHL Considering Reducing “Activities” to Deal with Overcrowding

The Chief Clinical Director of the University of  Limerick Hospitals Group says they may have to consider decreasing certain activities to deal with overcrowding there, during the winter. 

The Irish Nurses and Midwives organisation says there are 31 people on trolleys at Dooradoyle today it reported 36 people yesterday, 30 on Tuesday and 42 on Monday.

While one Clare FM listener from Shannon reported his wife, who suffered a suspected stroke in the early hours of Monday morning, had to wait on a trolley until Tuesday night for a bed. 

Dr John Kennedy has apologised to anyone in that situation – but says given a lack of funding staff are doing the best they can.
