In the past few minutes, a statement from the UL Hospitals Group says all elective surgeries have been cancelled to cope with their “extremely busy” emergency department.

They say there were 57 patients awaiting admission at 8 o’clock this morning, a figure that dropped to 52 by noon.

The lengthy statement outlines how 4 beds at the hospital, and a further 20 at St. John’s are currently closed and they ask patients to keep the Emergency Department for emergencies only.
