A former US college student has been awarded $2.5 million who was raped while on a school trip in Clare.
A judge has ordered the Rhode Island School of Design to compensate the unnamed woman who was on the college-organised program at the Burren College of Art in June 2016.

The students were accommodated in four-bedroom houses, but not given keys to lock their bedroom doors, and the student was raped by a classmate on the first night of their trip, in her bedroom.
A federal judge ruled, that by not ensuring that students had access to keys to secure their private accommodation, that the school had breached its duty of care to the student.
