Two People And Dog Rescued After Being Cur Off By Rising Tide Near Carrigaholt

Two people and their dog have been rescued after being cut off by the rising tide, near Carrigaholt, on the Shannon Estuary.

Kilrush RNLI were alerted shortly after 4 o’clock on Saturday afternoon, following reports that a man, woman and their dog, who had been trapped by the incoming tide while walking along the shoreline, attempted to climb the cliff to safety, but were unable to find a safe exit.

The causalities were located three-quarters of a nautical mile east of Carrigaholt, where Kilrush RNLI crew maneuvered the lifeboat to the base of the cliff and following a number of attempts, managed to take the casualties safely aboard.

They were subsequently assessed and no further medical intervention was required.

The causalities were taken to Carrigaholt pier, where Kilrush RNLI was assisted by a local person, who transported them to their accommodation.
