Two new Ryanair routes have been announced for Shannon Airport.

The two new destinations are Beziers in the South of France and Newcastle in the UK.

The twice weekly Beziers service will run on Mondays and Saturdays from the end of March, while the Newcastle service will run three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

It marks a total of a $300 million dollar investment in Shannon by the airline, as it celebrates 35 years in the Midwest.

Ryanair’s Director of Commercial, Jason McGuinness, says they’re committed to growing even further in Shannon across the rest of the decade.

One new based aircraft is to be placed at Shannon by Ryanair, bringing the total to three.

The airline says it’s now supporting 880 jobs in total at the airport.

The Shannon Airport Group say today’s announcement marks “another vote of confidence” in local aviation.

Shannon Airport Group CEO Mary Considine says the pace of recovery since emerging from the pandemic has been far quicker than expected.

It’s understood Ryanair has not yet finished adding more routes to its Shannon summer schedule for next year, with more destinations to be announced over the coming weeks.
