Two new priests for Killaloe Diocese

Two new priests are to be appointed to Clare parishes, as part of newly-announced changes to personnel in the Diocese of Killaloe.

Fr. Albert McDonnell returns from the Irish College in Rome to take up his new appointment as Parish Priest of Kildysart and Coolmeen/Cranny in succession to Fr Colm Hogan who has begun a course of study in All Hallows College, Dublin.

The Kilmaley native is also moderator of the Mid Clare South cluster, which contains the parishes of Kildysart/Coolmeen and Ballynacally, and has been formed by changes to the old Mid-Clare Cluster.  Mid-Clare North comprises of Milltown Malbay; Inagh; Mullagh; Kilmaley.

Another new appointee by Bishop Kieran O’Reilly is Fr. Tony Casey, the new parish priest for Cooraclare. 

He returns from Peru, along with Miltown Malbay’s Fr. Desmond Hillery, nephew of former President Paddy Hillery to become parish priest of Nenagh in Co. Tipperary.  Fr. Casey will also co-ordinate the Diocesan Pastoral Development Group.

One Clare priest retires – Fr. Paddy O’Brien will leave his post from Tuamgraney from September 1st, when the changes take effect.
