Prospect FlexPower Limited is seeking to construct an enclosed battery energy storage system compound on a 6.2 hectare site in Ballygeery West in Labasheeda.

The facility will also include a 220 kilovolt electrical substation, as well as heating, ventilation and air conditioning units at the site.

A previous application that was withdrawn last year has been revised to reinforce the protection of native hedgerows in the area.

Clare County Council will make a decision on the proposal by November 16th this year.

Meanwhile, Orsted Onshore Ireland Midco Limited has proposed to build a collection of 240 batteries, a control building and four transformers on a 1.4 hectare area located in Booltiagh outside Kilmaley.

Currently Booltiagh is also the site of an existing 22MW (Mega-watt) wind farm operated by the DP Energy Group.

The local authority is inviting public submissions up until November 2nd.
