Two men in their 60s have become the latest victims on our roads following seperate crashes overnight.
One man was killed when his van hit a ditch in County Kildare, while the other was seriously injured after colliding with a vehicle in Galway.
When news of last night's fatal crash in Kildare first broke, neither the age Nor sex of the victim was known.
However in the past few hours Gardaí have confirmed that it was a man in his 60s that lost his life.
It's believed his van hit a ditch and overturned, at Cush on the Kildangan to Athy road, at around half nine.
He was the only occupant in the car – his body has been taken to the morgue at Naas General Hospital, where a post-mortem will be carried out today.
A forensic exam is underway at the scene this morning and part of the road remains closed.
Meanwhile, another 61 year old man has been seriously injured in a traffic accident in Co Galway.
He was the driver of a car which collided with a vehicle at Creagh (pron: Cree-ah) on the Athlone Road in Ballinasloe at around 9 o'clock last night.
The driver of the other car was unhurt.
The road is currently closed for a Forensic Collision examination and diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to both incidents.
