Belgium's terror alert level has been raised to its second-highest level after security forces killed two suspects with links to Syria in a fierce shootout in the eastern city of Verviers.

Detectives claim they foiled a major and imminent terror attack in the country after raiding ten addresses.
The suspects immediately opened fire on police when they closed in on them near the city's train station.
