Two due in court over Shannon Airport breach

Two people are due before Ennis District Court today charged in connection with a security breach at Shannon Airport last year.

Garda summons were issued to the pair – a woman in her late 70’s and a man in his 60’s in April.

It follows an incident at Shannon Airport on the 7th of October 2012 when anti war protesters, carrying banners denouncing the US military use of the airport, breached the perimeter fence.

The pair were apprehended as they made their way onto the main runway.
