The officer’s private car was parked at the back of Scarriff Garda Station on Monday night, while she was out in patrol in an official Garda vehicle.

Upon returning at around half past midnight, she found that the car had been set alight.

Three men were subsequently arrested in connection with the incident on Tuesday afternoon, and were questioned at Killaloe, Ennis and Shannon Garda stations.

One of those has now been released, with a file to be prepared for the DPP.

The other two men, who are both in their 30’s, are to appear before Ennis District Court this morning, facing charges pertaining to the criminal damage arising out of the incident
