Inspectors from the Department of Education have praised two Clare primary schools.
Evaluations of the schools in the North and West of the county have praised staff, parents and pupils at both facilities,
Department officials found the pupils at Ennistymon National School to be well behaved and courteous, and it’s principal visionary and dynamic.
The board of management were also praised, while the school’s seven teachers were found to be open to learning, change and development.
A good level of support for pupils with special educational needs were noted though the school though was urged to develop self-evaluation practices particularly in maths.
Praise too from the Department for Gaelscoil Uí Choimín in Kilrush.
A high standard was recorded in the work of their 71 pupils, who learn under dilligent teachers.
Parents were found to be ‘extremely generous, loyal and supportive’ though it was recommended that more of the support for pupils with special educational needs to be organised on an in-class basis.
