Two Clare candidates have been eliminated in the race for Europe.
Corofin Architect and Irish Freedom Party hopeful Michael Leahy amassed a total of 15,183 votes but was excluded after count ten.
Cratloe Independent Ireland candidate and former ICSA General Secretary Eddie Punch made it to count 14 before he was eliminated with 26,167 votes.
Clare Independent TD Michael McNamara still remains in contention for a seat and lies fourth in the standings after being leapfrogged by Sinn Féin’s Kathleen Funchion.
But the Scariff Deputy is expected to benefit from the bulk of transfers from Eddie Punch.
Fine Gael MEP Seán Kelly was the first elected on count one and the remaining successful candidates are not expected to be announced until late tomorrow afternoon.
