Two Arrested Following Murder Of Prison Officer In The North

Two men have been arrested in connection with the murder of prison officer David Black on the M1 motorway near Lisburn yesterday.

He was gunned down on his way to work at Maghaberry jail.

The men – aged 31 and 44 – were detained in Lurgan earlier this morning – they have been taken to the Antrim Serious Crime Suite for questioning.

The Minister for Justice Alan Shatter says Gardaí and the PSNI have never been closer in terms of co-operation and a number of lines of inquiry are underway.
