It’s understood they were arrested on the runway yestreday, having breached the permieter fence of Clare’s international airport, and pictures show them holding banners protesting against the threatened military action in Syria.

A statement from the Galway Alliance Against War Group says the pair wanted to highlight the use of Shannon by the U.S., and names them as 79 year old Margarette D’Arcy and 60 year old Niall Farrell.

Both are already facing charges over a similar protest at Shannon last year.
