Twelve Clare Locations Retain Blug Flag And Green Coast Awards

Twelve locations in Clare have retained their Blue Flag and Green Coast status.

At a ceremony in Wexford, which is currently taking place, it’s been announced that blue flags will be flying once again at Cappa Pier; Kilrush and beaches in Kilkee, Doonbeg, Spanish Point, Miltown Malbay, Lahinch, Fanore, Killaloe and Mountshannon.

It’s the 35th year of the international programme, which has become an internationally recognised symbol of high standards in water quality, environmental management, environmental education and safety.

Carrigaholt beach, Ballyalla Lake, Seafield and Bishop’s Quarter have all retained their Green Coast Award, which recognises beaches for their clean environment, excellent water quality and natural beauty.

Clare’s Water Safety Officer, Clare McGrath has been telling Clare FM’s Fiona Cahill that it’s a big boost for the county.
