A tug boat has been sent to help a cargo ship that’s lost power and is stranded about 100 miles off the Clare coast.

The vessel has a crew of 22 people on board and is carrying a load of caustic soda.
It was en route to Aughinish on the Shannon Estuary when it ran into difficulty with its main engines.
Dublin Coastguard is co-ordinating the operation and the tug vessel is expected to arrive at the scene this afternoon.
