Donald Trump's Doonbeg Hotel and Golf resort has reported losses of two and a half million euro last year.

The Trump International Golf Club Ireland Enterprises Ltd, which bought the property for 15 million euro, has reported the losses to the Companies Office, after investing almost 25 million in upgrading the resort during 2014 and 2015.

Donald Trump's son Eric says 2016 was was the strongest year in the property's history, despite the property undergoing a renovation during part of the year.

He's told the Irish Independent that he's confident that next year will be a "banner year, with a tremendous amount of business already in the books".
