Trump Signals Interest In Doonbeg Visit

Donald Trump has signalled that he may visit Doonbeg.

The US President has met with Taoiseach Leo Varadkar at the White House, and says he wants to visit his West Clare property, and may do so before the re-election campaign starts.

The two leaders have spoke about trade, immigration and also Doonbeg – after the meeting, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar said Doonbeg was also discussed in that meeting.

Meanwhile the Taoiseach has revealed he made an intervention over plans to build a windfarm near Donald Trump’s golf course in Clare after a request from the billionaire.

When he was a Minister Leo Varadkar got a call from Trump asking about proposals to build a windfarm near Doonbeg.

The Taoiseach told the US President, Vice President and other government leaders he thought it was a ‘piss take’.
