Trump had submitted an application to Clare County Council for works which involved altering the protected sand dunes at the former Doonbeg Golf Club.

Concern had been expressed by a number of groups, including the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, and now a spokesman for the billionaire businessman has told the Irish Independent that a "more comprehensive plan" will be submitted shortly.

It's expected this will come within a matter of weeks, and Clare County Council has told Clare FM that it understands further research is being carried out on addressing coastal erosion issues at the site.
