Nurses say trolley numbers at the region’s main hospital are continuing to spiral today.
The latest figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show there were 118 admitted patients waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick this morning.

52 of those were on trolleys in the Emergency Department, with a further 66 accommodated in overflow areas of wards.
The overall figure is more than double the next busiest facility; Cork University Hospital and comes on a day when 599 patients were waiting for beds at hospitals across the country.
