Trolley Numbers At UHL Almost Five Times That Of Next Busiest Hospital

Nurses say the level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital is almost five times that of the next busiest facility.

The latest figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show 43 patients were left waiting for a bed at University Hospital Limerick this morning.

The overall figure is 34 more than the next busiest facility; Cork University Hospital, where 9 patients were waiting to be admitted this morning.

In Limerick, 19 patients were on trolleys in the Emergency Department, while a further 24 were being accommodated in overflow areas of wards.
