Trolley numbers at the region’s main hospital are spiralling.

The latest INMO figures show 70 people were left waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick this morning, 46 of those in the Emergency Department alone.

A further 24 are being accommodated on trolleys in overflow areas of wards.

The overall figure is almost double that of the next busiest facility, Cork University Hospital, where 36 patients were left waiting to be admitted this morning.
