There’s been a spike in the level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital as the weekend fast appoaches.
The latest figures from the Irish Nures and Midwives Organisation show there were 103 admitted patients waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick during morning rounds, 46 of those in the Emergency Department.

The overall figure is more then four dozen more than the next busiest facility; Cork University Hospital, where there were 58 patients on trolleys this morning.
They’re among 406 admitted patients waiting for beds at hospitals across the country today, 11 of those children.
