Trolley Numbers At UHL Exceed Numbers Waiting For Beds At Ten Eastern Hospitals Combined

Nurses say the level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital alone has far exceeded the numbers waiting on trolleys at all ten hospitals in the east of the country combined.

The latest INMO figures show there were 116 admitted patients waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick this morning, 42 of those in the Emergency Department.

The overall figure is 46 more than all ten eastern hospitals and 71 more than the next busiest facility; University Hospital Galway.

The level of overcrowding at UHL represents close to three quarters of the total number of patients waiting for beds at hospitals across the country today.
