Trolley Numbers At UHL Exceed Combined Total Of Ten Eastern Hospitals For Third Time In Fortnight

Nurses says the level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital has well exceeded the combined total of all ten hospitals in the east of the country, for the third time in less than a fortnight.

The latest analysis from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisations shows there were 100 admitted patients on trolleys at University Hospital Limerick this morning, which is 11 more than the total for the ten eastern hospitals.

The figure is 59 more than the next busiest hospital in the country; University Hospital Galway, where 41 patients were on trolleys this morning, according to the INMO figures.

Overall, 407 patients were waiting for beds at hospitals across the country after the May Bank Holiday Weekend.
