Nurses say trolley numbers at the two main hospitals in Clare’s bordering counties account for close to half the country total today.
The latest analyisis from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show there were 124 patients waiting on trolleys or chairs at University Hospital Limerick this morning, 51 of those in the Emergency Department.

Galway University Hospital was the second busiest facility, where there were 73 admited patients waiting for beds.
The two facilities are by far the busiest in the country on a day when 441 people were waiting on trolleys at Irish hospitals this morning, according to nurses’ union the INMO.
