University Hospital Limerick is by far the most overcrowded facility in the country, following the bank holiday weekend.

128 patients were recorded on trolleys at the MidWest’s main hospital this morning by the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.

The figure is more than three times greater than the next busiest facility, Mayo University Hospital, which has just 36 patients on trolleys by comparison.

According to the INMO, there are 558 patients without a bed today nationwide.
