Troika attempt to put Greek economy back on track

Troika officials arrive in Greece today to try to put the country’s economic programme back on track.

Athens could be in trouble with the troika over its continued failure to meet reform targets under its 130-billion euro bailout.

The Greek government needs to implement 11.7 billion euro of spending cuts between 2013 and 2014, but there are concerns the time frame is too short.

Reports in Der Spiegel newspaper at the weekend suggested that Greece will need 50 billion Euro in additional aid, adding that the IMF may refuse to contribute to that.
