Trichet ‘Won’t Attend’ Banking Inquiry

The former head of the European Central Bank says he won't be appearing before the Oireachtas Banking Inquiry.

Jean Claude Trichet was the ECB President during Ireland's banking collapse – and was a strong opponent of burning Anglo bondholders.

However, he says the 2008 Bank Guarantee was a decision taken "without consultation" by the Irish Government of the time – and he was told afterwards.
