President Michael D. Higgins says TK Whitaker's life’s work embodies 'the finest qualities and aspirations of the Irish people'.
The former Senator and head of the Department of Finance passed away yesterday at the age of 100.
His work paved the way for Ireland's economic expansion in the 1960s.
Taoiseach Enda Kenny also paid tribute, describing Mr Whitaker as 'incomparable and irreplaceable'.
