Tributes have been paid following the tragic passing of a Sixmilebridge resident.
John Walsh suddenly became ill last night while in attendance at the meeting of Clare & Limerick in the Munster Senior Hurling Championship at the TUS Gaelic Grounds.
Stewards, Emergency Services & Team Medics immediately responded to the incident , however John was pronounced dead shortly after 7pm.
A native of Portumna in County Galway, John represented his county at Minor, U-21 & Intermediate level before relocating to Sixmilebridge in 1968.
Upon taking up residence in South-East Clare , John became a loyal and active member of Sixmilebridge GAA Club, offering a helping hand at various club fundraisers while also being heavily involved in numerous management teams throughout the club.
John is dearly missed by his beloved wife Sheila, daughter Orla ,sons, Cathal, Ruairi and Eoin, son in law Shane, daughters in law and partner Niamh, Deirdre and Aoife, adored grandchildren Ava and Donnacha, brothers Mossy and Timmy, sisters Patricia, Marian and Anne, nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers in laws, extended family, friends and neighbours.
John will be laid to rest following a funeral mass at St.Finnachtas Church, Sixmilebridge on Thursday at 1pm.

Reposing in Mc Mahons Funeral Home Sixmilebridge this Wednesday (3rd May) from 6pm to 8pm
Followed by removal to St. Finnachtas Church for funeral Mass on Thursday (4th May) at 1pm followed by burial afterwards in Ballysheen Cemetery.
