Hundreds of people worlds of sport and politics gathered in Ventry in West Kerry today to pay their final respects to Páidí O’Se.
The iconic GAA manager and 8 time All Ireland winning footballer – died of a suspected heart attack at his home on Saturday morning.
The chief mourners – Páidí O Se’s wife Maire, his daughters Neasa and Suin and his son Padraig Og – have been joined by huge crowds in and around the small church – which is full to capacity.
Prominent figures in attendance – include former Taoiseach Brian Cowen, Páidí O’Se’s former team mate Jimmy Deenihan – the Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, members of the current Kerry football team, and inter county manager Mick O’Dwyer
At the end of the ceremony several people paid tribute to the 57 year old including his son PadraigÓg, Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh along with playing colleagues and friends.
