A disgraced Chinese politician, once tipped for the very top in the country’s ruling Communist Party, has gone on trial this morning accused of corruption and abuse of power.

Bo Xilai was thrown out of the party over the scandal surrounding the death of a British businessman.
His wife was jailed last year in connection with the killing of Neil Heywood.
