Questions are being raised about the cost of traveller accomodation in Clare, as major repair works get underway at one halting site in Ennis.
Residents living near the Beechpark Halting Site on the Kilmaley Road have suggested the site shopuld be closed, while calls have been made for 24 hour security to be put in place, after four of the six houses were abandoned in a dilapidated state.
Locals have expressed shock at broken windows and doors, houses gutted of floorboards, kitchen fittings and plumbing, as well as vast amounts of rubbish and waste left at the site, with vermin reported in a number of units.
Ennis West Councillor James Breen says the council can hardly afford the clean-up, and need to take greater precautions in future
