A fresh call has been made for an NCT Centre to be established in West Clare as a matter of urgency.
The Ennis centre is the sole testing facility in the county, where the next available appointment dates are five months down the line, in November and plans for a second NCT centre in Shannon haven’t yet come to fruition.
At this months meeting of the West Clare Municipal District, elected members unanimously backed a motion requesting the Minister for Transport to immediately expedite plans to develop a testing facility at an identified site in Kilrush.
Leas Cathaoirleach of the West Clare MD, Councillor Ian Lynch believes the creation of a new site in Kilrush could significantly reduce the countywide testing backlog.
