Transport Minister under pressure to act on Aer Lingus cuts

The Transport Minister is being asked to bring a halt to Aer Lingus plans to cut 102 cabin crew at Shannon Airport.

As the consultation process aimed at saving 97 million euro at the troubled former state airline gets underway, Clare Fine Gael Deputy Pat Breen says he’s angry at the severity of the cuts.

Aer Lingus is seeking 676 redundancies, with more than three quarters of Shannon cabin crew facing unemployment, reduced working hours for ground staff and the possible loss of long haul flights altogether.
