Transport Minister Says Northern Distributor Road Is Not A Priority

The Minister for Transport says he will be focusing on the delivery of public transport services in Limerick ahead of the completion of the Northern Distributor Road.

The fullfilment of the project linking South East Clare to North Limerick was most recently recommended in the Independent Shannon Estuary Economic Taskforce Report in June, despite being ecxluded from a regional state transport plan last year.

19 million euro has already been spent on the first phase, from Knockalisheen to Coonagh, which has since returned to tender after the original contractor entered receivership.

Speaking during a visit to Clare, Green Party Leader Eamonn Ryan says projects elsewhere will take priority.
