Clare County Council is to seek a meeting with the Transport Minister, as concern grows about the future of Shannon Airport.
A special meeting of the Council last evening heard from Shannon Group’s Acting CEO Mary Considine, who again outlined expected losses of 58 million euro the local economy, as a result of the global grounding of the Boeing 737 Max aircraft.
It also represents a loss of 120,000 seats at Shannon, which will see its overall passenger numbers decline this year.
Councillors are to seek a meeting on the matter with Transport Minister Shane Ross, but Inagh Green Party Councillor Róisín Garvey says while she has little faith in the Minister, she believes he needs to see the situation first-hand:
