There’s a strong call for traffic calming on a south-east Clare road where vehicles are said to be “literally flying”.
The latest meeting of Shannon Municipal District has heard calls for measures to be put in place on the Wood Road in Cratloe which it’s claimed is “extremely busy” particularly at school traffic peak times.
A pedestrian crossing was installed on the route in 2023 which Shannon Municipal District says “functions as a traffic calming measure”, but it says an assessment of traffic behaviour on the rest of the road will be conducted to determine if further measures are needed.
Sixmilebridge Fine Gael Councillor John Crowe believes more needs to be done to keep motorists and pedestrians safe.
