Clare County Council is set to conduct a traffic and speed survey in a village where children are said to be at risk on the roads.
It comes following a motion from Quilty Fianna Fáil Councillor Michael Shannon at this week’s West Clare Municipal District meeting which called for such an assessment in conjunction with the Active Schools programme.
The location of Ballynacally National School just off the main R473 as well as the recent opening of a creche in the village have raised concerns around the safety of younger people in the area.
Councillor Shannon believes the need for traffic calming measures in the area is as clear as day.
