The death has taken place of noted fiddle player, Tommy Peoples.
Originally from Donegal, he lived in Clare for over 30 years after marrying Mary Linnane and is regarded as a major figure in Irish traditional music.

In 2013, he became the first person to win two TG4 Gradam Ceoil awards and just last month, he was honoured at the annual Scoil Samhraidh Willie Clancy tribute.
A number of figures within traditional music have paid tribute to Tommy Peoples today, with Sharon Shannon calling him her “all time musical hero.”
