20 tourists were evacuated from a bus in Clare after two wheels detached from the vehicle.
The incident happened on the M18 motorway around 5 o'clock yesterday evening when the two rear wheels separated from the bus, bounced over a crash barrier and down an embankment.
The driver managed to bring the bus to a safe stop but the vehicle partially blocked the slow lane on the motorway.
The passengers were evacuated and a passing coach that was later flagged down collected them and bruoght them to Bunratty where they waited for further transport.
Emergency services were alerted and a forensic examination was carried out at the scene by Garda investigators before the bus was towed away by a recovery truck.
