Transfer Of Shannon Heritage Sites To Council Brings “Stability” To Tourism Sector

The Vice Chair of the Clare Tourism Advisory Forum is heralding the proposed transfer of Shannon Heritage sites to the local authority as bringing much needed stability ahead of an unchartered two years in the tourism industry.

Bunratty Publican Maurice Walshe says that businesses in South-East Clare feel Clare County Council’s management of Knappogue Castle, Craggaunowen and Bunratty Castle & Folk Park would be a huge positive to the area.

Shannon Group, which encompasses Shannon Heritage yesterday confirmed that a provisional deal has been struck with the local authority to transfer the visitor attractions to their control, with the transition set to be concluded by the end of the year.
