Tourism Ireland’s Ambitious Targets “Huge Ask” Clare Hotelier Claims

A Lahinch hotelier says Tourism Ireland’s plans to increase revenue from British visitors by 25% is a huge ask, that requires huge investment.

The new strategy launched today has set the ambitious target for the next three years, with the UK continuing to prove our most important market.

Over 40% of tourists coming here annually and 25% of the tourism spend is from the British market.

Last year alone, 1.7 million Brits came to Ireland, spending over €554 million.

Michael Vaughan, of Vaughan’s Lodge in Lahinch, has been telling Clare FM’s James Mulhall that his concern is that the West won’t feel the benefits of this plan:
